What are your hours?
The studio is open to the public by appointment only. You can book a recording studio session or a free tour and consultation by clicking here. (We ask that you please don’t drop by without first making an appointment, as we will either be assisting clients with a recording session and unavailable for unannounced visitors, or we will not be on the premises.)
Will a studio engineer help me record my podcast or audio project?
Of course! A Permanent RCRD engineer will be on hand to make sure everything is set up and runs smoothly for your recording session. All you have to do is show up, sit down and talk.
The engineer completes a tech setup and performs a sound check with you and goes over mic technique for each recording session. The engineer also initiates and finishes the recording process for every session. The engineer will also transfer your audio files to your USB storage device or upload them to a private cloud folder where you can access them remotely.
We provide an optional Monitoring Service. If you contract this service, an engineer will remain in the studio room and monitor your recording at an additional rate of $20 per hour. The engineer only remains in the room to monitor your recording if you contract the optional Monitoring Service.
How does the studio record my audio?
We record in multitrack with digital audio software. This means every microphone being recorded has its own audio channel or track, and every channel/track results in an individual studio quality, 24 to 32 bit WAV audio file. So, for example, if your party of three records in our studio, you will receive three separate, synched WAV audio files. If you would like your multitrack WAV files mixed down to a single audio file, let us know and we’ll perform the mix down at no extra charge. We also record a backup session on a digital audio recorder in studio quality WAV.
What happens to my audio after a recording session?
Immediately after your session, we will transfer your audio files to your portable USB storage device. If you do not have a storage device, we will upload your files to a private cloud folder where you can access them remotely. Please note: Uploading can take from two to four hours, depending on file size and our engineer’s schedule and availability. We archive session files for thirty days.
Can you edit my podcast?
Permanent RCRD does offer editing and post-production services. (We also offer a New Podcast Setup package, which you can learn about here.) Our editing/post-production rates are based on your project needs and the complexity of the edit/post-production job. Can a guest or co-host call into the studio?
Yes, your guest(s) or co-host(s) can call into the studio using our Skype phone number, or we can call your guest from the studio via Skype. We can also use Zencastr software to call and record a remote participant. The remote Skype or Zencastr track will be recorded in studio quality WAV.

Can I bring my own recording gear?
Yes, you can bring your own recording gear. Please let us know what equipment/gear you plan to bring before arriving.
Do you have free wi-fi for guests and clients?
Yes. We’ll set you up when you come in.
Can I bring food or drinks?
You can bring food into our lobby, but please do not bring food into the studio rooms. Drinks are fine in both the lobby and studio rooms.
Our fridge and drink table is typically stocked with water, coffee, tea, beer, and cider. Help yourself!
How do I pay for studio rental and services?
Before your session, we will email you an online payment request. We ask that you pay for your session before arriving.
What is your cancelation policy?
If you need to alter, reschedule or cancel, please do so at least 24 hours before your scheduled session. You can do this by clicking the Cancel option in your confirmation email, or by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you do not cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before your session, we will charge a $10 cancelation fee.
Do you have other guidelines I should be aware of?

Please let us know beforehand whether you have any special requests (including the need for wheelchair accessible entrance, etc.) or further questions before you arrive. We’re here to help you have a great recording session. Our studio guidelines, implemented to ensure a great session for all parties, are listed below:
• We’ll confirm the functionality and inventory of our equipment before you begin your recording. Guidelines for our property are as follows: Damage to the space, property, equipment or software facilitated by the renter-client becomes the financial responsibility of the renter-client.
• We ask that you don’t smoke inside the premises or enter with any illegal drugs.
• We choose to prohibit guns from the premises, so please don’t bring any firearms.
What’s the parking situation?
We’re located at 1511 S. Congress Ave., Ste. 300, Austin, TX 78704. You can park in any parking space in the building lot; if there’s a parking attendant on the premises, just let them know you’re heading upstairs to the studio and you’ll be able to park in the lot for free.
